Biography

Lyric Bartholomay is professor in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine, and Director of the graduate program in Comparative Biomedical Sciences.  She is a co-director of the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease with Prof. Susan Paskewitz, which was launched in 2016 and recently received 5 more years of funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Her overall research and teaching goals emphasize developing capacity to tackle vector-borne diseases that impact public health.  Ongoing efforts in her lab include understanding the threat of invasive mosquito species, responding to a recent outbreak of Jamestown canyon virus, and interrogating the impacts of mosquito control on risk of West Nile virus transmission.
